Steam Community Market also known as Steam marketplace is the platform where players can trade in-game items for Steam Wallet funds. It was first introduced in a beta version with Team Fortress 2 and shortly was available along with many games. This applies to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds at the present moment.
Selling over 10 million only in it’s early access, PUBG has been a huge influencer for battle royale games. Since it’s very popular amongst high ranking streamers, it rose to a big popularity in a short period of time. In it’s early stages there weren’t that many in-game items where players could try to sell in the Steam marketplace and make a profit. But after the full release along with many event crates, Battlegrounds market started getting some attention from it’s players.
At some point marketplace was so valuable that there were items for over $500 such as bandanas, school uniforms, tuxedo sets and so on. These peaks eventually go down when the game doesn’t function well and loses it’s popularity to some extent. Nowadays an account that is worth over $300 back in the days now only worth around $100. This is mostly because the game has released many patches that still doesn’t fixes the game. There are many bugs, performance issues, cheaters and crashes that needs to be washed away before the game dies out.
